Operation "Saucepan 2" was conducted on 12 – 13 May, 1970. At the beginning of April 1970, terror activities increased in the Fatahland, Southern Lebanon, targeting settlements in the Upper Galilee. The Israeli government decided to act immediately in in force. On May 10 the IDF decided to conduct an armored raid on terrorist bases in villages on the western slopes of Mount Hermon. The object was to occupy the Fatahland and destroy the terrorist bases. The mission was given to Armored Brigade "Barak" (188), commanded by Colonel Moshe Bar-Kokheva (Bril).
