The second disaster in Tyre, Lebanon

​​On November 4, 1983, while the IDF was staying in Lebanon, following the First Lebanon War, a car bomb exploded near the gate of the IDF's command post in the city of Tyre. 28 people were killed, among them 16 from the Border Guard, 3 from the General Security Service, and 9 IDF soldiers. 31 Lebanese detainees were killed as well.

A car carrying 500 Kg of explosives burst into the command post at six in the morning. Despite being shot at by the guards, the suicide bomber entered the parking lot and detonated the explosives. The explosion destroyed the command post building. Most other soldiers who were sleeping in tents were unhurt.
